Due to developmental delays and differences, some children wouldbenefit from continued practice and reinforcement of the skills needed for the transition to TK and kindergarten.
This group will give children that extra practice by targeting the skills necessary to find success at school.
This group seeks to:
Increase the child’s understanding and ability to follow and participate in classroom routines
Support social interaction, facilitate cooperative play and conflict resolution during unstructured free choice time
Provide specific sensory motor strategies to facilitate the child’s regulation status to support attention, impulse control, and to address sensory seeking and avoiding behaviors
• Provide opportunities to build and improve on foundational fine and gross motor skills • Provide parents with sensory, motor and social/cognitive strategies to support their child through this transition
Who? Boys and girls ages 4-5, who are entering TK or kindergarten in the Fall of 2018 The group will be limited to no more than 6 children with a ratio of 1:3
When? Session 1- July 9-13, Session 2- August 6-10
Monday through Friday 9am-11pm
Registration Information: $600 First installment of $300.00 is due at registration. The second payment of $300.00 is due at the first session. ($50 discount if registered before April 25th)
If your child has not been previously assessed by an Occupational Therapist, an initial screening ($150) may be required to insure the group is well- matched with your child’s needs and abilities
What: Brain Boost! is a neuro-intensive OT program that focuses on improving neurological processes over a short period of time using the proper "Frequency - Intensity - Duration” required to provoke neurological change. Results may include improved focus, improved attention, improved motor coordination, rhythm and timing, and improved planning.
Duration: 3-6 weeks; with IM home unit at conclusion to achieve 25,000 reps on the metronome (IM Home unit purchased separately)
Children who currently attend OT **(and will continue to see OT throughout the Brain Boost program) or,
Age 6 and up
Good ability to self regulate for at least 20 minutes without behavioral breakdown
Children who are having "focus" issues at school
Children and adults who have had concussions or TBI
Athletes who are having academic issues
Autism, ADHD delays and diagnoses
Poor overall Motor Coordination
Patients ready for discharge from OT but still having some focus or sensory issues
What? : Brain Boost follows a basic treatment protocol; with individualization as needed
Integrated Listening systems-done in the office (should continue at home to achieve a minimum of 40 hours of listening)
Brain Gym/Bal-A-Vis-X activities to refocus brain/body
Interactive Metronome - 20-30 min Protocol follows the stages of IM (phases 1-4) basically beginning with simple motor tasks and ending with more complex sequences, tempos, and intervals.
Brain Gym/Bal-A-Vis-X, Swinging, or Heavy Work (depending on needs of child)
Brain Builder Program - self running; 15 -30 minute program for cognitive and processing development
IM Home: Home program for continuing with the IM training underthe supervision of a certified therapist-used at conclusion of the program to maintain results.
Session 1: 6/11/2018-6/29/2018 (Mon.-Thursday 1-2:30) Session 2: 7/16/2018-8/3/2018(Mon.-Thursday 1-2:30) Duration: 3-6 weeks; with IM home unit at conclusion to achieve 25,000 reps on the metronome (IM Home unit purchased separately)
Cost 275/week. Three week minimum . 50% deposit at registration. Balance paid on first day.
